The intriguing figure of Lilith appears in many religious traditions and myths. The most known story describes her as the first wife of Adam, who was created equal and refused to submit herself to him. Lilith fled from the Eden and became a lover to demons. Lilith can be seen as the dark side of the feminine principle, although this doesn’t have a negative or “evil” connotation. In my conception, Lilith is the assertive, non-conformist, and confident part of the feminine self. She teaches us self-respect for our inner Goddess. Here, Lilith holds a cracked mask that symbolizes all the roles imposed over women by society and religions – be submissive, be good-looking, be a wife, etc Those roles don’t represent us in our wholeness, and have been stifling our creativity and self-expression and creating a culture of conformism that have been disastrous for the development of an equalitarian society.

perfection ... the story is wrong they distorted her much of our imbalance is because of this historic distortion she is not just a wife but the creatrix ... Gaia the True Creator of All on this planet not some lone man in the sky ... Gaia who also has a being some called Lilith in truth she does not desire name or limits or bounds but to dream our limitlesss timeless spacelesss ness into existance

the horns my be there to represent that lilith was an outside. demonized by western thought. when in reality all she was doing was sticking up for herself.

absolutely amazing work!

Not everything you read is true. Lilith, like Adam, are watchers, are of before this Earth was created. On the far left, you have her portrayed with horns, as if she is, in part, a Djinn. Can you explain the horns? Great work.

When one is drawn to the desire, filled with the need, aching of the hunger to know the flow of the forces in the depths and shadows of the sacred feminine, imagery to satisfy and sate simply does not manifest any better than this. So absolutely love the paragraph philosophy that accompanies this work. Rarely can we find the fact so superbly stated that the dark side of the Divine Daughter among us is unequivocally exclusive of evil, two different topics entirely. The pose and posture of this figure, her -- do i look like i give a puny portion of a care, the very classical fashion in which she is portrayed to express a point as poignant in our times as it was back in the day when the First Lady of liberation told old Adam this is looking like quite a sham, so frankly my dear, this Gal don't give a damn for you and a garden growing what they use for fertilizer elsewhere. Most of all in this portrait, i love the feel as if she is about to do the world record discus throw of that fractured mask like the fellow in the old James Bond movie and we may well see in the next installment how a non-conformist makes heads roll.

I really appreciated the facts and your thoughts in artist's comments.
I think your usage of mixed media works very well in varying degrees of detail.
Some minor details I felt took away was the slight tangent created by the mask
in the mid right. I quite like myths/mysticism but haven't quite acknowledged
"Lilith" before. So, your work has inspired me to look on this character. c:

wow... my girlfriend just had this art expo, precisely about what Lilith represents. Just hers was more into the sexual aspect (a women must be virginal and shy about that, while a male must brag about his sexual life to be manly), not too much about the other social issues this "roles" imposed.

Loved your take on this situation... very beautiful and full of simbolism.
