slowly uploading the latest works... been into pencil and colored pencils a lot lately. also experimenting more with oils and canvases.

please use my email pattyariel.art[at]gmail.com or ariel[at]patricia-ariel.com if you wish to keep in touch. i've been super busy, coming here just rarely and might miss your message. sometimes i take a lot of time to respond, depending on the urgency.

another easier way to keep in touch, peeking on my progress, and seeing the new pieces as soon they are released, is "liking" my Facebook page.

Love to you All! keep inspiring!

One. a big THANK YOU to all of you who have spent time checking out my gallery and writing all those fantastic words of encouragement and love. I am very sorry I am not able to go through each one, but my appreciation is pure and genuine. Blessings to All.

Two. Please please please don't leave your messages here on DA since I don't come here everyday and I am very likely to miss them. Better write to my email pattyariel.art@gmail.com, where they have more chances to be read and responded in a timely manner. My apologies.

Three. These is the last week of my super studio cleaning sale, where all my pieces are 50% off their regular prices. Check on my online store to see what's still available: [link]

Hello everyone! First I'd like to thank you for so many demonstrations of support and encouragement here on DA, and sorry again for not being able to keep up with everything. Since I don't come here very often, it's hard to reply messages in a timely manner, or give permissions in order to be featured around DA. You don't need my permission, dear ones -- features are rather a pleasure and an opportunity for more exposure, so I am the one who has to thank you for them. About messages, I'd rather prefer you to send them to my email solstitium@gmail.com .Facebook is also a great way to keep in touch since I am pretty active there.

As some of you may know, last year, as a way to show my appreciation to my followers and friends, I created the Solstice Giveaways, in which twice a year, on Summer and Winter, I will be giving away an original piece, print, or other item. Although the first one required only an email, I thought that it would be cool to begin asking for a symbolic donation to each participant, so together we could help an institution or person in need. This month I will be giving away an original piece of artwork, at your choice:

"I am half-sick of shadows"

OR

Waterlily

To participate, you just have to purchase one or more e-tickets. Each e-ticket has the symbolic cost of $3.00 USD. The more tickets you purchase, the better are your chances to win. Names will be drawn on June 22nd. Out of the tickets money (after Paypal fees), I’ll take the cost of shipping and the rest will be donated to the family of young Florida student Josie Lou Ratley, who was violently attacked by another student on March this year. She was beaten so violently that she needed intensive care, kept at one point in a medically induced coma. Ratley left the hospital to a rehabilitation facility, and since then she has been relearning such basic skills as how to talk and how to use her arms. Learn more here

In a world where children can treat others in such a brutal way, the same kids who are the future of our society and who will be taking care of us in a few decades, it is of crucial importance that we show them there’s a brighter side. I learned that Josie loved art, and knowing about the healing power of art-making, and imitating the example of our fellow artist Helene Ruiz, my intention is to send her an assorted kit of art materials and other nice things that can show her that the world is not only made of brutality and hate.

If you are interested in participating, you can buy your e-ticket by accessing my blog. Paypal button is on the top of the right column.

THANK YOU and BLESSED BE!

Today I've decided to bombard you all with the images I've been producing in the last months. It's becoming a little difficult to come here as often as I'd like. One of the reasons for my absence is the eye fatigue that has been bothering me for so long. And since I need to save my eyes for painting, time at the computer has been sort of restrict.

Thank you for all the kind and encouraging messages, for the features and everything else. My sincere apologies for the lack of responses for many of them -- time won't allow me to send love back to all of you, at least verbally. But be sure that my heart goes with you all.

For the ones who wish to ask for permissions to use my images, please please please contact me through my email ariel@patricia-ariel.com or <a href:"[link]">blog. I don't come to DA very often, so I run the risk of becoming unaware of your requests. Please apologize.

And for the ones interested in Astrology + Creativity, I'll be starting a new, juicy online workshop by February 1st. The last one, focused on the Four Elements, was lots of fun and beautiful things. In the next one we'll approach different points of the birth chart, and for this reason it is going to last a bit longer (7 weeks). Please visit my workshop site to learn more! Hope to see you there!

Hello y'all!! I'd like to apologize from my long absence (busy bee), but since I'll be always a prodigal daughter, here I am again with the stuff I've been produced in the last months. I've been pretty much in an experimental phase, in which I've been trying to achieve new effects and a looser, freer technique, without losing the graphic quality of my work. It's been a long road, but very pleasurable and enriching. I've been producing smaller pieces with the purpose of experimentation and now I think I'm finally ready to the bigger ones, already on their way.

Also, thank you very very much for all the features, support, love and warm messages you've been left here. Due to my life rhythm is practically impossible to respond each one of them as I'd like, visiting each one of your pages and so on, but I'd like you to know that all the messages are read and sensed in my heart and soul, and each one of you hugged in my heart.

I also have an invitation for all of you who enjoy astrology and art making. From November 2nd through 12th I'll be running an online workshop called "Creative Astrology". This workshop was designed to help you understand the astrological language in an intuitive way, taking your own birth chart as a reference, and learning how to recognize the astrological symbolism inside yourself and in the world around you. This workshop is not intended to be a complete course on astrology, which would demand many months of apprenticeship and a different learning approach, but to give you a glimpse of how it is based upon and how you can see it in action in your life. As a complement you'll learn how to build a mandala journal and connect the mandala imagery to your chart and personal experience. The first edition will approach the Four Elements in astrology, and, as it is an experimental workshop, is being offered for free. However, only 12 spaces are available. If you are interested in participate, please leave a comment on my workshops page (link right below) with your name or alias and an active email to enroll.

I received 15 entries, and it was hard to draw only one number!! thanks to each one of the participants for their interest and for all the sweet words. you are fabulous folks. I plan another giveway for the Autumn Equinox, not sure if I'll be able to draw another portrait, though, but we'll see.

let me know if there are interest in discounts on originals and portraits, so I can also include some good discounts in the giveaways.

as I don't come to DA everyday, it was a happy (and scary) surprise to sign in tonight and see over a thousand messages, faves and new watchers. reading some of the messages I found out that my piece "The Scream" was featured yesterday as Daily Deviant. how cool is that??

I feel flattered and thankful. and no, I've not been able to read all the comments yet! my eyes have been very very tired thanks to computer screen exposure, and all my cyber activity has been drastically reduced these last days. must save my eyes for art. patience, patience...

a few people made comments about the lack of prints. this is a mistake I must correct as soon as possible. I've discontinued my own production of prints, but so far you can find them at my RedBubble's store (hope I am allowed to mention it here).

and the Solstice Giveawaycontinues. I am totally excited and happy with the responses I've been receiving so far. remember, I'm accepting your participation until June 20th.

as I promised a few days ago in my blog, to celebrate my birthday (today!) and the Summer Solstice I decided to present you, followers and friends, with a special gift. this is my way to say "thank you" for all the love and support I've been receiving, as both explicitly and silently.

I will be doing a giveaway of an 8.5 x 12 full color Astroportrait (a $200 value), which is a fine art customized portrait inspired on your astrological profile - for the ones who are not familiar with that, please check it out on my store. all you have to do is to send me an email with the subject Portrait giveaway, containing:
- your name and email
- which one of the groups below you belong to
- answer to the question: which one of my pieces is your favorite?

I'll write you back with a number. on this Jun 21st I'll be drawing a winner. sounds exciting?

and since I care about every person who watches and supports me, there are some rules for the participants:

1. participants must be part of one of the following groups:
- followers of Mesmerized by the Sirens blog
- followers of Inspirais blog (my blog in Portuguese)
- my Twitter's followers
- my Facebook's friends list
- my  RedBubble's watchers list
- my Deviantart's watchers list

2. gift is personal and nontransferable, i.e., you shall not give it to another person!

3. due to the shipping costs, unfortunately only US and Canada residents will receive the original artwork. an international winner will receive only the digital version, at least if willing to pay for the shipping. sorry! :(

I have to meet some deadlines at the present, then please notice that I'll just be able to start the job by late July. but you have only until June 20th to email me. so, run!

and Happy Solstice!

for a while I had almost forgotten that I had a DA account.

but not completely.

after over 2 years totally away, I'm back. life's been busy. now I have a daughter and my style changed a lot. I decided to start painting more freely and leave the fantasy stuff behind - or at least recreate it. It's wonderful no being tied to a genre of art.

I also have an art blog called Mesmerized by the Sirens where I show my creative process and musings. you're welcome to stop by whenever you want.

I deleted a few pieces from my DA gallery, for being representative of a style and subject I am not into anymore. and I apologize to all who left comments that were not read, favs that were not thanked for, requests of image usage permission that were not responded. love that I was not aware of, and that is so important and encouraging for every artist. blessings to all, and thank you.

now I have a good bunch of images to upload. hope you all enjoy them!

here I am. yes, I always come back.

during this time of absence many things have happenned. I finally got a domain of my own (website link is on the head of the page!) and have worked a lot also. I've finally had a chance to dedicate almost my whole time to my art, although sometimes a bunch of ideas related to other stuffs try to keep me out of my way...   that's a Gemini nature I never could manage very well. I apologize for the lack of responses to the most recent comments on my work around here - it doesn't mean I've been neglecting them, but that I was simply away. I value the minimum comment and critic on my work. By the way, it's not only for myself I create stuff...

What do I have now? New pieces being uploaded.  And don't forget to check my page on Ellen Million Graphics, where my piece Brigid appears on several products. You can also find also some avatars with my art on All Avatars.
always I finish a piece, my anxiety to upload it on here is huge. I am usually a very anxious person, and sometimes it blinds me to certain things. my last update, A dream of butterflies, is an example. in fact, after having analysed the figure better, I perceived there's something a bit strange in her anatomy. I am trying to find to best solution to fix that, and, as soon as I get it, I will substitute the image for a new one. well, bones of the job....

+

I always think that the scans never do the justice to the originals, and when I take them to Photoshop  to make them more "vivid", there's always the problem of "escaping" from the original spirit of the piece. :( I really would appreciate if somebody could give me some tips about scanning drawings and prepare them to visualization on web...
I'm back to Deviantart... after having forgotten the password of my old account and got unable to access it.

so, this is a brand new account, with my more recent pieces. I've been working a lot in my drawings lately, since now I have time enough to dedicate myself to my art (when I am not taking care of my lovely husband and Morgan, my feline baby...)

hope you enjoy these bits of my world.

:)
